PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment improved in availability by displaying only irreducibly minimum information when a fault occurs. SOLUTION: When any fault occurs (S101), the facsimile equipment discriminates whether or not fault information on the generated fault is to be displayed based on the contents of the generated fault and the current state (mode) of the facsimile equipment (S102) and when it is judged that the fault information is to be displayed, the fault information is displayed out on a display (S103). When it is judged that the fault information is not to be displayed, the fault information is not displayed and processing is finished as it is. Therefore, only the fault information required for the current operating mode is reported to a user, the processing of current operation or the like can be made most preferential and availability of facsimile equipment 1 can be improved.
