Methods and systems for facilitating the purchase of goods and services using a computer and/or communications network are disclosed. A central storage site is provided having a first, dedicated information database containing a plurality of files representing architectural information representative of an environment used by one or more potential buyers, and a second database of items available for purchase. The items available for purchase are preferably computer manipulatable by a user such that specific items from the second database can be displayed in connection with selected files from the first, dedicated information database. The central storage can also include a third database having information such as data representing the personal preferences of one or more users, personal property owned by one or more users, and combinations thereof. Users may select and purchase items or services, communicate the selected items or services to other users, develop new architectural information representative of changes to the environment, or change personal preferences of a user or personal property currently owned by a user.
