METHOD FOR EFFICIENTLY ALLOCATING COMMON PACKET CHANNELS

PURPOSE: A method for efficiently allocating CPCHs(Common Packet CHannels), is provided to insert allocation information on the CPCHs in empty parts of an AP-AICH(Access Preamble-Acquisition Indicator CHannel) and a CD(Collision Detection preamble)-AICH except for AI parts, and to provide the information to UEs(User Equipments). CONSTITUTION: When a UTRAN(Universal mobile Terrestrial Radio Access Network) transmits allocation information on CPCHs(Common Packet CHannels) to a UE(User Equipment), the CPCHs are grouped. The UTRAN(Universal mobile Terrestrial Radio Access Network) inserts information on CPCHs capable of being presently allocated in a 4-symbol length of empty part of an AP-AICH(Access Preamble-Acquisition Indicator CHannel) and a 4-symbol length of empty part of a CD(Collision Detection preamble)-AICH, and supplies the information to a UE. 8-symbol length of coding words, for discriminating 16 channels capable of being allocated by groups and by channels, are used as channel information inserted in the empty part of the AP-AICH and the empty part of the CD-AICH. The coding words are transmitted to the UE by being divided for each empty part. Orthogonal gold codes or bi-orthogonal codes are uses as the coding words.
