An espagnolette or espagnolette lock, particularly of the multipoint-type is disclosed, which includes a control mechanism received in a main housing and capable of actuating at least one actuation rod (3) which acts on at least one locking unit (4) in the form of a dead bolt or espagnolette bolt (5) mounted so as to be freely translatable or rotatable, respectively, in an auxiliary unitary-type housing (6) inserted at the rear of a faceplate (7) and having, in its forward portion (11), an opening (12) through which said dead bolt or espagnolette bolt (5) as well as its drive member(s) are engaged in said housing (6). A drive unit is designed in the form of a split bracket (21) capable of acting on either side of said dead bolt or espagnolette bolt (5) and co-operating through one or more engagement fingers (22) with the actuation rod (3), wherein said split bracket (21) is housed in the auxiliary housing (6) which further includes support and guiding means (16) for the dead bolt or espagnolette bolt (5).
