PURPOSE: A folding electrode group and secondary battery using the same is provided to lengthen useful life of battery, while preventing deformation of the battery. CONSTITUTION: A folding electrode group comprises a negative electrode(24) folded in zigzag; a positive electrode(22) inserted into each corrugation of the negative electrode; a reed(22a) for electrically connecting the positive electrode; and an U-shaped separator(26) inserted between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. A can(6) is arranged to receive, together with the folding electrode group, electrolyte. A cap plate(8) to be coupled to the opening of the can, includes an external extraction port(8a). One of positive or negative electrodes is electrically connected to the can, and the other electrode is electrically connected to the external extraction port, to thereby constitute a secondary battery.
