COOLING ELEMENT

PURPOSE: Disclosed is a cooling element capable of replacing a worn inner lagging with a new inner lagging in an arc furnace and of maintaining its initial shape during the use of arc furnace. CONSTITUTION: The cooling element is made of a copper or a copper alloy. A coolant circulation channel(4) is formed through the interior of cooling element(1). A side surface(2) of the cooling element(1) facing toward the interior of arc furnace is pluralities of surface parts(15) by means of a groove(3) extending toward the coolant circulation channel(4). The surface part(15) has a rectangular form and the side surface has a diamond shape. The width of bottom portion in the groove(3) is greater than that of inlet portion in the groove(3). The cooling element is subjected to the forging process or the rolling process. After performing the forging process or the rolling process, the groove(3) and the coolant circulation channel(4) are formed in the cooling element.
