PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of 1,3-diketone by a thermal transformation of a corresponding isomeric enol ester. SOLUTION: In this production method of 1,3-diketone utilizing a thermal transformation of a corresponding isomeric enol ester in a tubular reactor 1 at 350-700 deg.C and succeeding cooling and distillation treatments of the reaction product, the tubular reactor 1 is heated not its whole length but heating only a front part 1a of the minimum 1/4 to maximum 3/4 of the whole length calculated from the entrance of the reactor, and the non-heated part 1b as the rest of the tubular reactor 1 is thermally insulated.
