PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic converter capable of improving an assembling property of a holding sealant. SOLUTION: A catalytic converter is constituted of a main body 2 and a metal pipe to store the main body 2. The main body 2 is constituted of a catalyst support 11 and a holding sealant 12. The holding sealant 12 is a mat type article, a protruded part 12a is formed on its one end and a recessed part 12b to correspond with the protruded part 12a is formed on the other end. Additionally, a plural number of confounding point groups 13 forming parallel lines against the press fitting direction to the metal pipe are formed on the holding sealant 12. Each of these confounding point groups 13 is totally formed for a specified interval T1 along the recessed part 12b from the protruded part 12a. Each of the confounding point groups 13 is constituted of a plural number of confounding points 14 formed for each specified interval T2 totally along a press-fitting terminal end from a press-fitting starting end to the metal pipe 3.
