PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of inexpensively treating waste paper sludge with simple operation for the purpose of the reduction of many paper wastes, such as waste sludge liquids, recovered waste paper and used papers and further for resource recovery of the waste paper. SOLUTION: This method for treatment of the waste paper sludge includes a stage for forming an organic acid component mixture by subjecting the waste paper sludge to an enzyme anaerobic treatment, then acting photosynthesis bacteria on this organic acid component mixture. The photosynthesis bacteria are at least one kind selected from the group consisting of Rhodobacter spheroides, Rhodospirillum rubrum, Rhodobacter capsulatus, Rhodoseudomonas pslastris and Chromatium.
