PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a harvester for root crop such as garlic capable of uniformizing the cutting length of the leaf and stalk part with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The objective root crop harvester is provided with a clamping and transporting apparatus 10 to transport a pulled root crop upward to the back while keeping the suspended state of the crop, a height-uniformizing transporting apparatus 13 to clamp the leaf and stalk part 3a of the crop with opposite faces of a pair of belts 9 in a state movable upward, make the root crop contact with and slide on the lower edge of the apparatus and transport the crop backward while uniformizing the height, a leaf and stalk part discharging apparatus 14 placed below the clamping and transporting apparatus and above the height-uniformizing transporting apparatus, clamping the leaf and stalk part in a state inhibiting upward motion and transporting the crop backward and a leaf and stalk part cutting apparatus 18 placed behind the height- uniformizing apparatus at a height between the leaf and stalk part discharging apparatus and the height-uniformizing apparatus and cutting the leaf and stalk of a root crop disengaged from the height-uniformizing apparatus and transported in a free state with the leaf and stalk part discharging apparatus.
