PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device which can reduce the shock a driver receives in the operation of a steering wheel, by displacing the steering wheel to the front side in a head-on collision, while obtaining a sufficient installing rigidity in a normal condition, in a simple and a light weight structure. SOLUTION: A steering column 7 is installed and fixed by providing an upward extending part 6 at the upper part of a pedal bracket 5 erected at the front end of a floor panel 3, the upper end of the upward extending part 6 is connected to a dash panel 2 by a stay member 11, while the stay member 11 and the upward extending part 6 are combined rotatable relatively around a horizontal shaft core when a load more than a specific value is operated by a pair of pivoted bolts 16. While a sufficient installing rigidity is obtained in the normal condition, the upward extending part 6 is made to rotate its lower part to the rear side by making its upper end as the center, in a head-on collision time. |
