PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for reducing permeation of wetting water into an ink coating system in a lithographic press. SOLUTION: Manifolds 14, 15 are disposed contiguously to inking rollers 48, 52. One manifold 15 has an air curtain A directed toward a supply side inking roller 48 and a shaking roller 46 while the other manifold 14 has an air curtain directed toward a receiving side inking roller 52 and the shaking roller 46. Since wetting water picked by the inking rollers 48, 49, 50, 51 and 52 from a printing block evaporates before permeating into an ink coating roller array 11, the problem of 'gap streak' due to periodic interruption of transfer of wetting water to the printing block 29 is eliminated. |
