PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a thermal head with a desired projecting shape for preventing reduction of a forcing pressure at a plate center part at a low cost, and improve the reliability of a plate making device. SOLUTION: This production method comprises the steps of applying a thermally setting adhesive on a heat sink 11 so as to form an adhesive layer 13, superimposing a ceramic substrate 12 provided with a heat generator thereon (FIG. a), and leaving the same in an oven with the temperature set at 100 deg.C for 2 hours for hardening the adhesive layer 13 with the heat sink 11 thermally expanded so as to adhere the heat sink 11 and the ceramic substrate 12 (FIG. b). Thereafter, by leaving the same at an ordinary temperature, owing to the difference of the heat sink 11 and the ceramic substrate 12 in terms of thermal expansion, a thermal head, curved in a smoothly projecting shape with a 0.05 mm height at the center part can be produced (FIG. c). Since a thermal head with a desired shape can be produced in a short time as well as an external force is not applied to the ceramic substrate 12 at the time of curving into the projecting shape, a low cost can be realized without the risk of breakage.
