PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knock type mechanical pencil without anxiety of mounting a chuck in a bending manner when the chuck is press injected and coupled to a lead tank. SOLUTION: A chuck 4 is press injected from a front side of a barrel 3, a lead tank 5 is inserted from a rear side of the barrel 3, and a rear end of the chuck 4 is press injected and coupled into a front inner hole 5B of the tank 6 in the barrel 3. And, an outer step for receiving a spring for urging the chuck 4 rearward is formed on a rear part of the tank 5.
