PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image recorder, e.g. a facsimile or a printer, for recording an image by ink jet recording system in which the recorder is protected against damage by releasing the error of discharged waste ink through recovery operation. SOLUTION: Ink is ejected at a place other than a recording place, discharged forcibly and contained in a waste ink containing member. When a decision is made that the quantity of waste ink contained in that member exceeds a specified level, a user is informed to this effect in the form of a waste ink error. Upon occurrence of a waste ink error, recover is prohibited even if the recover key at an operating section 106 is depressed. |
