The belt lock has a base (2) with side walls to hold a lock part (4) so that it can turn into locking position when a locking tongue (3) is inserted, and engage with the tongue. An operating part (6) releases the lock. A securing part (5) is moved into securing position, to hold the lock part in locked position while it is engaged with the tongue. A movement inhibitor (12) prevents movement of operating and securing parts into a position, in which the connection between lock part and tongue is released when these parts are subjected to a large inertia force.
