PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling and maintaining a TTL(Tower Top LNA(Low Noise Amplifier)) are provided to transmit a received signal to a BTS(Base station Transceiver Subsystem), regardless of a TTL error. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a method for controlling and maintaining a TTL consist of a TTL module, a control box, an alarm board, and a BTS fault management block. The TTL module has a path passing through an amplifier and a path not passing through the amplifier, and includes a switch which can execute the changeover of each path. The control box detects a fault from the TTL module. In case that a fault is generated, the control box transmits a switch transfer signal to a path not having a fault. The alarm board, installed in a BTS, includes a register storing alarm information. The alarm board collects and reports alarms from all the units of the BTS. The BTS fault management block, installed in a BSC(Base Station Controller), receives fault information from the alarm board. In case that a fault is generated from the TTL module, the BTS fault management block outputs a path transfer control signal to the control box.
