PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design method which can support the design (creation/ thinking), i.e., an original function of design by storing a modeled object, designating the modeled object to extract and calculate it and outputting this calculation result. SOLUTION: An input means 10 gives an instruction to an arithmetic means 12. Thus, the means 12 acquires various types of data or the necessary programs, etc., from a storage means 14 to carry out the necessary operations and outputs these operation results to an output means 16. The means 10 designates a unit space and also can interactively select it. Then the means 10 changes the relation set between each parts (a part) and an aggregate (the whole) of these parts into a model. Thus, the matched interlocking is always secured between a part and the whole. Therefore designed products can be standardized, that is, the design calculation is previously built into a program to attain an automatic design that can be automatically processed by a computer.
