<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing anα+βtitanium alloy having high strength, ductility, and fatigue strength, free from defects, such as deformation and crack, and having high reliability at lower manufacturing costs than heretofore, and equipment used for it. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method, anα+βtitanium alloy is pressurized and heated to a temperature not lower than (β-transformation point of this alloy -200 deg.C) while being subjected to pressure of >=100 MPa, preferably >=300 MPa, to undergo pressure heat treatment and is then cooled, while keeping the pressure, down to <=600 deg.C at >=10 deg.C/min cooling rate and further held at 400-600 deg.C for >=1 hr to undergo aging treatment or is subjected, after the pressure heat treatment, to cooling down to <=300 deg.C, to plastic working, and further to aging treatment. The manufacturing equipment has, inside a pressure vessel, two or more independent heating devices and a movable stand for moving a material to be treated or further has a heat insulating wall between the heating devices.</p> |
