PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a liquid crystal by cutting down its amount to be used to a minimum and to form the layer having uniform thickness of the liquid crystal without using any gap material. SOLUTION: An electrode sealing material 24 surrounding the vicinity of a confronted electrodes region, in which a common electrode 20 and a segment electrode 14 of a pair of glass substrates 11 and 12 opposite to each other are placed opposite to each other, is arranged. A liquid crystal 30 is enclosed in the region of the pair of the glass substrates 11 and 12 surrounded by the electrode sealing material 24 so as to form a display part. Consequently the liquid crystal 30 is enclosed only in the place that is necessary for the display and thereby the amount of the liquid crystal 30 to be used is cut down to a minimum. Also the layer thickness of the liquid crystal 30 is uniformly formed without using any gap material because the electrode sealing material 24 performs the function of a gap material as well.
