PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer which has the desired transmission band characteristic such as flatness in the shape of transmission band near the central wavelength without narrowing the wavelength transmission band (FSR) and is excellent in the crosstalk property with adjacent transmission bands. SOLUTION: Optical amplitude distribution between respective waveguides 3, 5 in a channel waveguide array part 4 is changed to the distribution different from normal gaussian distribution by means of a waveguide lens 7 which performs optical convergence and divergence which is incorporated in an input slab waveguide 3 and a space filter which controls optical amplitude and phase in the optical multiplexer/demultiplexer of an array waveguide lattice type. In such a manner, the desired FSR characteristic of the optical multiplexer/ demultiplexer can be obtained. |
