The invention relates to a method and a system for electronically examining milk-producing animals such as cows. With the aid of at least one electronic nose, an odor is detected of raw milk which originates from the animal to be examined, such as a cow. The electronic nose generates a signal representing the detected odor. This signal is supplied to the computer for further processing and analysis of the detected odor.
