Alkylsulfonyl halides and/or arylsulfonyl halides (I) are added to the reaction mixture in a process for the production of 4-nitrodiphenylamines by reaction of 4-nitrohalobenzenes (II) with prim. aromatic amines in presence of alkali carbonates and copper compounds.
