PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an information reproducing device and the method capable of efficiently correcting the fluctuation of an aperture. SOLUTION: An optical disk 1 provided with a recording layer and a reproducing layer is irradiated with a light beam from a head 2, and the recorded information on the recording layer is read out by opening a detecting window on the reproducing layer smaller than the irrediation range of the light beam. The resolution is detected by a resolution detecting part 15 based on a value X/Y dividing a value X of the difference between a sample value Y around a peak of an isolated pulse obtained by detecting an isolating mark which is preliminarily recorded on the optical disk 1, and a sample value adjacent to it by the sample value Y around the peak. By a reproduction control circuit 14, the size of the detecting window is controlled so that the resolution from the resolution detecting part 15 is approached to a reference value K from a reference value output circuit 13.
