PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic starter for an engine which can suppress increase of shock generated at the time of starting irrespective of deterioration of engine components with the lapse of time. SOLUTION: An engine control unit(ECU) 30 of an automatic starting device is composed of an engine automatic starting determination part 31 which determines whether specified automatic starting conditions of an engine are satisfied or not, a shock storing part 32 which stores specified and preset shock, a shock comparison part 33 which compares desired shock to actual shock, and an output torque calculation part 34 which calculates control conditions from the comparison value of shock and various sensed signals so as to make the shock hereafter with the desired shock and outputs the control signals to an engine. With such a setup, the shock generated on a vehicular body at the time of starting is substantially kept constant at the desired shock. It is thus possible to avoid increase of starting shock caused by deterioration of engine components with the lapse of time, and possible for a driver to drive the vehicle without uncomfortable feeling.
