PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic train operation system capable of a re-start command to a train stopped in the middle between the stations by minimizing the number of additional devices. SOLUTION: As a means for remote-giving a start command to an ATO control part 4 of a train stopped in the middle between the stations, an ATC loop 1 is utilized. When a train stops between the stations, if a restart command is included in a pulse string of the detected ATC aspect signal, an ATC receiving part 11 transfers it to the ATO control part 4. The ATO control part 4 releases a brake device 5 and outputs a starting signal to a driving device 6 similarly to the case of starting at the station. When the device in once started, even if a start command is not given, the ATO control part 4 continues running at a speed according to the ATC aspect speed signal to reach the next station. Accordingly, it is not necessary for a ground crew to run to the stopped train and operate it to be started again.
