PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a steel cord excellent in rubber-permeability and useful for reinforcing a belt part of a tire by twisting plural wires shaped at a prescribed amplitude at the same pitch as that at the shaping. SOLUTION: A wire 2 having 0.15-0.40 mm wire diameter d is shaped into a two-dimensional wave shape at an amplitude within the range of 2d-5d, and three to five shaped wires 2 are twisted at the same pitch Pc of 6-30 mm as that at the shaping so that the position of the neighboring wire 2 may be changed from the upper part to the lower part in order to provide the objective steel cord 1. The length of the major axis (a) in the cross section of the cord is nearly equal to the amplitude at the shaping of the wire 2, and the length of the minor axis b is nearly equal to the stack of two wires 2 in the steel cord 1 having flat cross section.
