PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-speed-responsiveness super-twist liquid crystal display which is excellent in steepness of electro-optical characteristics and hardly causes unstable twisted structure by using a nematic liquid crystal composition containing a specific liquid crystal compound. SOLUTION: A nematic liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound represented by the formula is used. In the formula, R1 and R2 are each an optionally halogenated 1-15C alkyl or 2-15C alkenyl group; rings A and B are each trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene, 1,4-cyclohexenylene, 1,4- bicyclo(2.2.2)octylene, naphthalene-2,6-diyl or the like provided they may be cyanated or halognated; and (n) is 0 or 1.
