PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial and highly strong polyamide fiber having excellent strengths and antimicrobial activities, being hygienic and less degradable even used under a severe condition. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial and highly strong polyamide comprises a polyamide containing 0.1-5.0 wt.% of zinc oxide particles the surfaces of which are coated with a coupling agent and having >=2.8 relative viscosity and is brought to have 25-500 d fiber denier, >=6.0 g/d strength and 15-50% elongation.
