PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide system and method for sensing a fuel feeding timing of a diesel engine which has a pressurized fuel source and a fuel line for feeding the fuel to a combustion chamber of an engine. SOLUTION: A fuel pressure sensor senses a fuel pressure. Then, an engine speed is sensed. A fuel injection amount is sensed, and an engine load signal is derived therefrom. A variable threshold signal is emitted as a function of an engine speed signal and an engine load signal. A fuel pressure signal is compared to the variable threshold signal. When the fuel pressure signal crosses the variable threshold signal during increasing of the fuel pressure signal, the timing signal is emitted.
