PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dielectric composition improved in the gas absorption characteristics by compounding a mineral oil with at least one composition selected from among a plurality of specific polyarylalkane compositions in a specified wt. ratio. SOLUTION: This dielectric composition comprises 99-70 wt.% mineral oil and 1-30 wt.% at least one polyarylalkane composition selected from among compounds (A)-(D) represented by formulas I-IV, etc. Composition I is a mixture of ingredient A and ingredient B and at least 99 wt.% of the composition comprises compounds having two aromatic nuclei and compounds having three aromatic nuclei. Composition II is a mixture of ingredient C and ingredient D and comprises 70-80 wt.% benzyltoluene isomer mixture and 20-30 wt.% dibenzyltoluene isomer mixture and ditriphenylmethane isomer. In the formulas, n1 and n2 are each 0 or 1 provided n1+n2 is 0 or 1; p1 and p2 are each 0, 1 or 2 provided p1+p2<=3; p'1, p"1 and p4 are each 0, 1 or 2; p'2', p"2, P3 and p5 are each 0 or 1; and p'1+p"1+p'2+p"2+p3+p'3+p4+p5<=2. |
