PURPOSE: A method for producing a laminate employing a plastic film is provided to produce a decorative sheet made by substitution materials, such as a thermoplastic film, and to apply the functional or visual characteristics, such as vivid color or improved combination between the laminate and other layers, to the laminate, if desired. CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic film that may be used in making an end product, such as a high pressure decorative laminate, may be formed of either a copolymer of styrene and an unsaturated monomer, and an additive, or a polyolefin polymer having polypolar functionality, and a cross-linking agent reactable with the polyolefin polymer. A colorant may be provided to the film, if desired. The thermoplastic film may be utilized as a decorative layer or as water resistant layer in an end.
