CATALYST MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: An aluminum oxide-base catalyst material having a high specific surface area and high dispersion of a catalytically active component is provided, which contains at least one basic oxide besides aluminum oxide and contains at least one noble metal belonging to the platinum group of the Periodic Table as the catalytically active component. CONSTITUTION: A support material stabilized with a basic oxide is loaded with another basic oxide by new impregnation with the oxide, the impregnated material is dried and calcined at less than 800deg.C and a catalytically active noble metal is mixed in the support material by similar impregnation to obtain the objective catalyst material. A catalyst produced using the support material is used as an auto exhaust gas catalyst and ensures a remarkably reduced starting temperature.
