PURPOSE: A plane display device and its manufacture is provided to offer an AC driven plasma discharge display device of matrix type capable of reducing the power consumption and establish a method of manufacturing such display devices. CONSTITUTION: A first substrate(1) and a second substrate(2) are positioned oppositely, and a first electrode group(21) consisting of a plurality of first discharge electrodes(11) is formed on the first substrate(1) while a second electrode group(21) consisting of a plurality of second discharge electrodes(12) is formed on the second substrate(2), and chiefly plasma discharge display due to cathode glow discharge is conducted.
