PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate synchronizing deviation between a data signal reproduced from a magnetic tape and a timing signal. SOLUTION: By this digital recorder, externally inputted signals for 4 channels are converted to intermediate frequencies respectively by frequency converters 611-614 and converted to the digital signals by A/D converters 621-624. Also the timing signals synchronized to the signals for 4 channels are converted to the digital signals by an A/D converter 64. Then the data signals for 4 channels outputted from the A/D converters 621-624 and the timing data signals outputted from the A/D converter 64 are respectively converted to formats recordable in a data area of the magnetic tape 2 by a format converter 65 and supplied afterward to a magnetic head of a rotary head drum 3 to record in the data area of the magnetic tape 2.
