<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high wavelength selectivity in an optical parametric oscillator. SOLUTION: This optical parametric oscillator is discretely subjected to adjustment of phase matching conditions so that optical parametric oscillation is effected by irradiation with exciting light and that a nonlinear optical medium 11 of a type-1 and an nonlinear optical medium 12 of a type-2 emitting signal light and idler light emit the signal lightλs (1) andλs (2) and idler lightλi (1) andλi (1) of the same wavelength. Further, either one of the nonlinear optical media 11 and 12 is subjected to phase matching in such a manner that the polarization directions of the signal light and the idler light of the one are the same and the polarization directions of the signal light and the idler light of the other are different, thereby, the oscillated light of the high oscillation intensity and narrowed band width can be obtained.</p> |
