PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for a recording medium, capable of binding a driving unit without greatly protruding a mechanism to the outside of the driving unit, and preventing any limitations on space around the driving unit. SOLUTION: A driving unit 30 is elastically supported on a vertically moving base 21 via a damper 25. In a binding means 60, a cross-shaped rotor 62 is provided in the vertically moving base 21, and a through-hole 70 is formed in the driving unit 30. When the rotor 62 is rotated by 45 deg. by a first switching member 44 while the rotor 62 is inserted in the through-hole 70, the cross-shaped binding part 64 of the rotor 62 is pressed to each inner wall of the through-hole 70, and the driving unit 30 is kept in X and Y directions.
