PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adapt peripheral system management in compliance with variation in the capability of a peripheral device by enabling a user to refer to information regarding the functions of managed units of a peripheral system by a managing computer. SOLUTION: A client computer 10 is equipped with a memory 16 which stores a PSM object 18. Peripheral devices 22 and 24 have a management interface(MI) 26 and a managed entity(ME) interface 33. Each MI 26 has methods 28, 30, and 32 providing information relating to service functions of the ME 33. When a view object 36 in the PSM object 18 is executed, the method 28 judges which ME 33 supplies information regarding services to the object 36 and the method 30 passes a list of judged MEs 33 to the object 36 to display it. Then the method 32 makes the selected ME 33 execute the object by the peripheral devices 22 and 24 to display the information to the user.
