MUFFLER HAVING VARIABLE DAMPING CHARACTERISTIC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler having variable damping characteristic that is enabled to be structured with a small number of parts at reduced cost and weight. SOLUTION: This device is a silencer especially for a rhythmic exhaust gas such as exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine. This device is equipped with a case member 1 into which an inflow tube 7 leads and which at least one exhaust duct 8 leaves. This case member is divided into at least two separate rooms 4, 5, 6 by at least one separation walls 2, 3. A passing-flow sectional area of a passage 10 connecting two separation rooms 5, 6 and/or the exhaust duct is changeable by an adjustable close element 13. An energization element 12 which acts on the close element 13 in the area is provided in the exhaust section in the inflow tube 7.
