摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device having a spectral band width of emitted wavelengths remarkably narrower than that of a conventional EL element, having directivity, applicable not only to a displaying body but to optical communications, and capable of emitting light of a plurality of different wavelengths. SOLUTION: This light emitting device 1000 has a substrate 10, and luminescence element parts 100a, 100b, 100c formed in parallel on the substrate 10. Because the luminescence element parts 100a, 100b, 100c have diffraction gratings 12a, 12b, 12c, respectively, with pitches different in optical length, they can emit light of a plurality of different resonance wavelengths. An insulating layer 16 has slit-like opening parts 16a, 16b, 16c. Therefore, the insulating layer 16 functions as a current constricting layer. When a prescribed voltage is impressed on positive-electrode layers 20a, 20b, 20c and on a negative- electrode layer 22, current flows mainly through domains CA corresponding to the opening parts 16a, 16b, 16c.
