PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt type continuously variable transmission to improve on-vehicle ability of an FR vehicle. SOLUTION: A belt type continuously variable transmission 3 is provided with a continuously variable transmission mechanism 17 comprising a rotary shaft 19 on the drive side and a pulley 23 on the drive side connected in a manner to transmit a power to the crank shaft 8 of an engine 1; a rotary shaft 20 on the driven side and a pulley 31 on the driven side situated mutually in parallel to the rotary shaft 19 on the drive side and the pulley 23 on the drive side and connected in a manner to transmit a power to rear wheels 7; and a belt 34A run around the pulley 23 on the drive side and the pulley 31 on the drive side. The rotary axis Y1 of the rotary shaft 19 on the drive side and the pulley 23 on the drive side and the rotary axis Z1 of the rotary shaft 20 on the driven side and the pulley 31 on the driven side are arranged in different positions in a radial direction based on the rotary axis X1 of the crank shaft 8.
