PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of manufacturing plasma display panels. SOLUTION: An electrode pair 14A and 14B and a dielectric substance 13 are installed on one of a pair of glass boards, while an electrode 16, a dielectric body 15, barrier ribs 18, and a phosphor 19 are installed on the other glass board 12. The two boards 11 and 12 are positioned opposing and sealed relative to each other, and a discharge cell formed between the boards 11 and 12 and partitioned into a plurality of compartments by the barrier ribs is substituted with a rare gas, and a voltage is impressed to the electrodes 14A and 14B to cause electric discharge in the cell, and external display is made using the excitation light of the phosphor 19. When installing the dielectric body and barrier ribs on the glass board 12, the material of dielectric body is placed on the top layer of the electrode, and thereon the material for the barrier ribs is placed, and after formation of the barrier rib pattern, the material of dielectric body and the patterned material of the barrier ribs are subjected to a baking process simultaneously. |
