PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an art for a surface reforming method for obtaining surface-reformed items, having the surface of a metallic treated object with improved wettability, utilized for the heat conductive pipe for an evaporator of an absorption refrigerator. SOLUTION: The surface of a metallic object 11a to be treated is provided with a plurality of irregularity 11b, and the surface of the objected to be treated is coated with treatment liquid containing organic metallic compound components and metallic oxide particulate components and is heated to form a metallic oxide layer 11d, which is porous and has many cracks at least the outer surface, on the surface of the treated object 11a.
