PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high speed generation of the shade of a virtual object from spatial data based on a photographed image by converting the photographed image to the spatial data made into an object and storing these spatial data in a memory so that they can be retrieved. SOLUTION: Concerning the object in a virtual space, spatial light beam data are converted on the basis of the photographed image and previously stored on a disk. while a user operates a mouse and walks through that virtual space, a viewpoint position (i) is moved. In the virtual space, virtual illuminations L1 and L2 are turned on and a virtual illumination L3 is turned off. This shade is formed in areas 300 and 301 on the surface of a cone 100 of the virtual object and deep shade is formed in the area 300. When the virtual object 100 with the formed shade is watched from the virtual viewpoint position (i), a spatial light beam data object generated by providing a light at the illumination position L1 and a spatial light beam data object generated by providing a light at the illumination position L2 are synthesized.
