An optical superconducting device (10) uses a single chip of high sensitivity capable of transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves in a wide range of microwave to terahertz bands. The optical superconducting device (10) comprises a chip (3), a superconducting electromagnetic radiation source (16) arranged closely above the chip (3), and a Josephson device (14) for detecting electromagnetic radiation from the superconducting electromagnetic radiation source (16). A constant current bias is applied to the superconducting electromagnetic radiation source (16) to generate electromagnetic radiation, and the Josephson device (14) is biased at a constant current. Continuous spectrum information is obtained by moving the bias point sequentially based on whether electromagnetic radiation is present. |
