A connector device (14) for connecting a fuel supply (10) to a gas appliance or vehicle and a method of providing a reserve supplyof gas to the gas appliance or vehicle from the fuel supply (10) using the connector device (14). The connector device (14) includes a housing having a gas flow passage for fluidly connecting thefuel supply (10) and the gas appliance or vehicle and a central control valve (36) located within the housing. The central control valve (36) is configured to close the gas flow passage when the housing is not connected to the gas appliance or vehicle to thereby stop a gas from flowing through the gas flow passage. The central control valve (36) is further configured to open the gas flow passage when the housing is connected to the gas appliance or vehicle to thereby allow the gas to flow through the housing.
