Sealed light fitting for fluorescent lamps 1 with an incorporated mirrored, diffusing or hammer-finished reflector 2 for directing the light, to increase its luminous output. The light-directing reflector 2 is formed as one unit from plastic film with at least one reflective surface of low specific weight, so that the cost of material is 50 per cent less than that of an identical reflector made from a thin sheet of aluminium. the metallic base 3 of the electrical fittings of the sealed light fitting 1 is fixed to the bottom of the plastic base 4 so that it has smaller dimensions and hence lower material and assembly costs than it would if it were attached as a cover 8 on the upper, open part of the plastic base. The reduction of the construction cost of the reflector 2 and the metallic base 3 for the electrical fittings, combined with the correct distance of the reflector 2 from the fluorescent lamps 5, allows the standard and permanent incorporation of the light- directing reflector 2 inside the sealed fluorescent light fitting 1 with the result that its luminous output is increased by 15 per cent. |
