PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover fastener easier and convenient to use. SOLUTION: A cover fastener for a corrugated fibreboard box or cardboard box, used to keep one or two pairs of opposed closeable covers in a locked condition, comprises an inner plate 1 to be put in contact with the inside of the closeable covers in the locked condition, a string 2 provided outside the center of the inner plate 1 so as to be extended to the outside through the edges of the closeable covers 9, 10 in the locked condition, an outer plate 3 to be put in contact with the outside of the closeable covers 9, 10 in the locked condition, a through-hole 4 provided in the center of the outer plate 3, and a hook 5 and a receptacle 6 engaged with the edge of the through-hole 4 and the string 2 for keeping the inner plate 1 and the outer plate 3 in mutual contact.
