The control system of an industrial sewing machine enable to stitching to move backward or forward. There is an operator function with the controller, which monitors the position of the needle by means of the phase angle and sensors. There is synchronisation in the controller between sensors and phase angle, to match the stitch requirement. The sewing machine (1) pref has a sensor (3) to monitor the position of the needle, up or down. The motor drive (2) has a controller (13) connected to a foot pedal relay (11) which provides current to the stator (7) and rotor (8). In addition there is an electro-mechanical brake (9) which is activated by a heel movement on the foot controller, with a signal along the (BK) line from the module (520).
