The internal rear view mirror has a removable information device (2) received within the mirror housing (3). The information device has an information carrier plate (9,10) fitted into a reception sleeve (11) in the mirror housing when not in use and extracted via a slit (14,15) in the shorter side edge (12,13) of the mirror housing, for movement into an operative position (17) parallel to the mirror surface.
